Wordle and del.icio.us
Being something of a visual learner, I’m hung up on image generators. Thanks to KP over at Murphy’s Law I found another one to play with. You can just pop a URL that provides RSS feeds, or a slab of text, or someone’s del.icio.us name and Wordle will generate a tag cloud. And not just any old tag cloud…. colours, fonts, layout etc can all be played with. I really liked this cloud of Hamlet’s ‘To be or not to be’ speech. The visual learners amongst our students might find this an interesting way to mindmap “must learn” quotes, word lists, summaries etc.
Here’s a cloud of my del.icio.us. I guess you can look at this, as might you look at someone’s bookshelves, to see where my interests lie!
Postscript 3rd August… here’s a post from Edublogger on how to embed wordle creations in your blog. I used SnagIt to capture my examples.

Great idea for using Wordle for learning, Di. When I saw the one with SLEEP so prominent I thought you must be you still recovering from jet setting.
The blog is looking good.

Thanks Marita. You know, I had not noticed the prominence of ’sleep’ in the Hamlet wordle. Maybe I was too tired to notice! I have sent some info (along with the Hamlet wordle) to various subject depts here and have received a very enthusiastic response from some teachers.
